(Aug. 10, 2011) – Allen County Recorder John McGauley filed papers today with the Allen County Election Board laying the groundwork to run for 1st District Allen County Commissioner in 2012.

“As Allen County Recorder, I have seen first hand what can happen when county government responds to the needs of its customers,” McGauley said.  “We desperately need a culture of ‘Yes!’ in local government that believes we can and should change with the times, adjust to the needs of the people we serve and remove government from the list of obstacles to our community’s success.”

McGauley, elected County Recorder in 2006 and re-elected in 2010, has been responsible for implementing unique customer service intiatives, driving down wait times and dramatically cutting his office’s consumption of tax dollars.  At the same time, he has led the way among Indiana Recorders in driving services onto the Internet, making it possible to conduct any transaction with the Recorder’s Office online.

“County government is too often seen as an hindrance that perpetuates an antiquated way of doing business that costs too much and moves too slowy,” McGauley added.  “For the past 5 years I have worked with the goal of making government faster, better and less costly to the community.  That’s a mindset I believe the Commissioners Office could benefit from.”
